My name is Bob Cornelis. I am a retired 70+ year old who enjoys learning about challenging topics that are interesting to me. I’ve chosen to share some of what I’ve learned and thoughts I’ve had along the way with two objectives in mind. First, writing is thinking according the the writer David McCullough so my hope in writing about my projects is that it will reinforce my own understanding and show me what more I need to explain it to others. Second, my hope is that something here might be of interest to you and spur you on to explore it with me and, perhaps, to engage in some conversation here in the comments.

Just a little about my background and interests to offer some context. I have a BA in philosophy with an emphasis in analytical philosophy. After school, I had a 20 year career in software, half of it writing mountains of C code and the rest managing various programs in this field. During this period I became a practicing fine art photographer and my interest in that along with the trend toward digital photography during this period (late 90s) led me to start my own digital fine art printing business supporting the work of other artists, which I ran for 20 years before retiring. During all that time my own art practice continued, though I switched from photography to printmaking in 2017.

In the past several years I’ve made a conscious decision to focus some of my time on an intentional practice of self learning on various intellectual topics as a complement to my more hands on practice of art making. The advent of easy access to powerful AI models made this a more promising path to pursue and the journey so far has not disappointed.
